　　太湖之滨流传着西施与范蠡许多动人的故事。大型民族舞剧《西施》以爱情与战争相交织的戏剧结构，着重描写西施与范蠡、西施与吴王的情感纠葛，集中刻画西施在越国国殇之时所遭受的痛苦与磨难。整台舞剧追求浓墨重彩地塑造西施“人美心更美、重情更重义”的典型艺术形象；倾情颂扬西施与范蠡坚贞不渝的爱情；凸显深厚的江南文化底蕴；在现代审美意识与戏剧冲突的交汇、融合中，在舞剧表现形式的突破、创新中，给人以强烈的美感。

　　Many moving stories about Xi Shi and Fan Li go round the bank of Taihu Lake. In a theatrical structure of love interlaced with war, the full length Chinese dance drama Xi Shi is describing the love imbroglio among Xi Shi, Fan Li and Emperor Wu while focusing on the pains and hardships Xi Shi suffered during the national crisis of the Yue Empire. The whole play seeks to shape the classical image of Xi Shi with thick and heavy colors—“the inner beauty and loyalty are more important than the appearance and love”; and extols the faithful love between Xi Shi and Fan Li. The audience could feel a strong sense of beauty in the intermingling of modern aesthetic awareness and theatrical conflict,as well as a smell of freshness in the innovative breaking-through of performing style.
