Festival hosted by the State Administration of Radio, Film and TV and the
Shanghai Municipal Government, will take place from June 11th to 15th. This

Since 1986, Shanghai TV Festival
has been successfully held for 12 editions. It has a high reputation for its

platform for television exchanges in China, the Shanghai TV Festival serves as

China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, to show their varios talents and charming.
<Animation Day> will provide
a platform for Chinese and foreign animators to exchange new ideas, in order to
create more Chinese original cartoon plans. There will be forum, pitch-catch and

The 13th Shanghai TV Festival

1) Magnolia Award
International TV Program Competition
In order to thrive on domestic TV
productions and strengthen international television exchange, this year’s
Magnolia Award made structural adjustments to the awarding categories. The newly
set awards will display better industry function, in hope to promote the
development of the Chinese TV Cause.
275 companies from 39
countries around the world submitted their programs. From the nominations, it is
obvious that programs in the TV film section are finely-plotted and
well-performed while documentaries possess exquisite scenes and profound
conception. The new animation category is full of the latest productions around
the globe with dazzling colors and incredible imagination.
The juries of this year’s
magnolia award are directors, actors or producers from nine countries or regions
including Korea, U.S.A, France, Australia, Mexico, Hong Kong, Taiwan and China.
All of them are authoritative and typical both in their own countries and around
the world.
2) International Film
& TV Market
International Film & TV Market
will be held June 12th -14th at Shanghai New International Expo Center. As one
of the most popular events of the festival, the film & TV market has always
kept its growing tendency. The ratio of foreign exhibitors is about 40%. This
year, the market will focus on its professional service function, and to provide
a better place for negotiation. At the same time, the market will increase its
emphasis on the promotion of Chinese TV productions, and invite more foreign
buyers for market exchange.
Through data analysis,
introduction, the market will provide professional service which is of
international standard, and will keep acting as a role model in Chinese TV
market. Up till now, market sales is already over, all booths sold out.
Domestically, exhibitors include SMEG, CCTV, Hairun Media, etc while
internationally, exhibitors range from Disney, MGM, etc. Agencies of
joint-booths from EU, Korea and Japan have also bought booths.
3) New Media & International
Broadcasting Equipment Market
Will be held June 12th -14th at
Shanghai New international Expo Center.
This year, the market will keep
its original form of the International Broadcasting Equipment Market while
enlarging the interactive new media section with the advantage of SMEG. Up till
now, 80% of the booths are already sold.
4) Magnolia TV
Forum
This edition of Magnolia TV
Forum starts with an online forum on May 28th, and will last until June 15th.
The forum adheres to the principle of “Global Issue, Industrial Experience” and
the slogan of “Guidance for the 2008 TV industry”.
Magnolia TV Forum consists
of online dialogue, summit forum and symposia. Among those, online dialogue is a
brand new section, guests will be invited to discuss opinions online; and it is
open to everyone. The Magnolia Forum will have 40 experts, among them half are
from abroad. The Summit topic is "The Power of Media in the Olympic Games and
World Expo". It will mainly discuss the responsibility, role, operation and
influence of media in the coming Olympics and World Expo. The Symposia will have
such topics as “The International Language of Documentary Films”, “Audience
Research Affects Content Production”, “The Power of Depth”, etc. The new media
forum will continue to combine ideas from technology, communication and
traditional media to further discuss the future development, method and
collaboration opportunities of new media. Technique Forum will put technology
together with content-using and enterprise management; experts will express
their views on technology serving content.
5) Magnolia Award and
Closing Ceremony
The Award and Closing Ceremony of
the 13th TV Festival will extend base upon before and audience in Asia and North
America area can watch the ceremony on live this time. The topic of this year’s
Closing Ceremony will be “New Vision New Concept”. We will explain the “vision”
and “concept” from different view, and reset the type of the closing ceremony.
The ceremony involves morden elements and traditional Chinese elements together,
and tries to make the whole ceremony more graceful.
